MSWGA Tournament Survey
This year a survey card was given to each participant in the 2009 State Tournament. The questions were as follows:
What days to you prefer for the State Tournament?
25 Chose Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thurs 45 Chose Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday 2 Did Not Care
As most surveys indicated participants would like mid-week play. The MSWGA board will try to make those days available but we also work around the host sites schedule. Our main goal is not to put a hardship on the golf course as we hope they will invite us back. The window for the state tournament is July 15th to August 15th. Again, this window is to help the host site accommodate all the commitments they may have that year.
Do you like having a cocktail Party?
45 Yes 22 No
This year the cocktail party will become the Special Events Party". Some of participants are young and do not attend the cocktail party. The board was concerned that these young women felt they couldn't come since it was a "cocktail party". This function is to bring all participants together for a fun night of food, fun and laughter.
Do you feel the continental breakfast is necessary?
45 Yes 23 No
What can be done to make a better State Tournament?
Keeping the course compatible to all players More focus on senior players Truer Handicaps Last Day Parings Hosting Functions at Golf Course Increase Fee & Better Golf Courses
These comments were voiced quite a few times. Some of these suggestions have been addressed already and we hope next year these issues won't come up.
A few of these issues the MSWGA has no control over. Our preference is to hold all functions at the host site but there will be times that the host site do have the faculties. We hope by keeping the tournament at a reasonable price we can encourage more players to participate in the state tournament. As the cost of course usage fees go up, we then have to raise the entry fee.
What do you like about the State Tournament?
Meeting other golfers, renewing friendships, social gatherings.
There were many thanks to the 2009 Host Site Committees. Look for the survey in 2010! Thank you for taking the time to fill out the survey!!
